One thing New York City doesn’t want for in this economic slump? Yoga studios. And yet more are popping up all over town.

The Dharma Yoga Center, led by the legendary Dharma Mittra, opened a new west-side location at the end of 2010, and Yo Yoga!, debuted on the east side overlooking the Queensboro Bridge this week.

“Small businesses contribute to recovery, and we’re contributing in a way that is affordable and respects our students’ own financial situation,” say Rebecca and Kennedy Weible, Yo Yoga’s owners, who charge just $12 per 60-minute class. “We want yoga to be affordable and accessible, because we believe in the practice.”

Here are the quick and dirty details you’ll need for a trial trikonasana at these new New York yoga studios:

Perk: Other than being super affordable, Yo Yoga! will offer outdoor classes on their 1.300-sq-ft roof deck as soon as the city thaws out. www.yoyoganyc.com

Very excited about Yo Yoga! I live around the corner, so this will be a great option to drop in when I feel like it. I definitely plan to be there all summer for the outdoor classes, I love doing any type of workout outdoors!
