Top 5 cooling foods

woman eating saladShould you find yourself wanting only popsicles for dinner in this summer heat, we bring you a list of top five cooling foods to base a light meal around:

Cucumber: It’s edible water

Radishes: Edible water with a zing

Strawberries: A naturally sweet antioxidant breakfast or chop over a salad.

Tofu: This is a funny one, but Eastern Medicine says tofu is so cooling, it can dampen libido—especially in men.

Turmeric: A stress-fighting not-so-spicy spice. It’s awesome!

On fresh chopped cucumbers or radishes I use my absolute favorite condiment, Umeboshi Vinegar (made with Japanese umeboshi plums), which you can find in the Asian foods aisle at Whole Foods. Just a splash and it’s heaven. —Jennifer Kass
