4 great green juice recipes from CoolerCleanse

1 / 8

coolercleanse green juice recipesEric Helms, founder of CoolerCleanse and Juice Generation, and his team joined The View last week.

Their mission? To prove to its lively hosts that "kale is the new bacon"—only better for you, while he poured samples of his popular green juices.

(Watch Elisabeth Hasselbeck basically place an order for a juicer before the commercial break!)

For those who need no introduction to the benefits of green juice—Helms provided the recipes!

We've got four of his favorite green juice recipes, and they vary in seriousness and sweetness from Essential Green to Garden Green Coco, which has serious summer wow-factor if you serve it in a young Thai coconut shell. (You can buy the coconuts at Juice Generation.)

Consider this your summer crash course in green juices! Get the recipes now...

Essential Green

The classic all-greens blend with just a hint of pear.

Small handful of parsley
1 small bunch of dandelion greens
1 small bunch of watercress leaves
3 leaves of green kale
2 Bartlett pears, seeded

½ cucumber, peeled

Instructions:
Bunch up spinach, parsley, dandelion, watercress and kale and push through juicer with celery and pear. Follow with cucumber and lemon. Scrape off the foam and serve over ice.

Another way to get your kale fix! Sip this kale drink, sweetened with watermelon, which is a best-seller on the Juice Generation menu.

Ingredients:
3 leaves of green kale
2 apples, seeded
2 slices of Watermelon
¼ lemon, peeled

Instructions:
Bunch up kale, and push through juicer with the apple. Follow with watermelon and lemon. Scrape off the foam and serve over ice.

You can't live on green juice alone. Smarty Pants gummy vitamins are an easy-to-swallow way to get the nutrients you may be missing—like vitamin D and omega-3s—even with all that kale.

Supa Dupa Greens

Don't own a juicer? This recipe is blender-friendly.

Ingredients:
12 oz almond, soy or hemp milk
Handful of spinach
Small handful of parsley,
1 cup of strawberries
1 banana

Instructions:
Add almond milk to blender. Add spinach, parsley, strawberries, and banana. Blend on high for 45 seconds. For variation, add hemp protein powder or blue green algae.

Garden Green Coco

Coconuts are packed with potassium and electrolytes, says Helms, which makes them great post-workout drinks, and ideal for summer.

Ingredients:
1 young Thai coconut
1 handful of green kale
1 handful of spinach
½ banana

Instructions:
Crack open coconut (using a cleaver and extreme care) and pour the coconut water into a blender. Remove coconut meat with a spoon and add to blender. Add kale, spinach, and banana. Blend on high for 30 seconds. Pour smoothie into the coconut and serve with a straw.
