My Favorite Green Juice Recipe: Ashley Turner

“Not eating well-balanced meals can make you feel terrible,” she said when we peaked in her fridge last January. “Not just physically, but mentally and emotionally.”

Unsurprisingly, the Californian, who’s leading an Urban Priestess retreat at Kripalu this weekend, consumes greens, greens, and more greens.

And when Turner can’t finish her surplus of kale, spinach, and collards before they go bad, she loves to whip them up into this green smoothie. —Jamie McKillop

Inner Power Smoothie

Blend and enjoy!

2 cups leafy greens (kale, spinach and arugula)
Handful any combination cilantro, parsley and mint
1/2 banana, apple or papaya
1/2 avocado
1/2 c. blueberries
1 Tbsp hemp seeds
1 Tbsp flax seed oil
Pinch cayenne pepper
Pinch sea salt to taste
1/2 lemon, squeezed (keeping seeds out)
1–2 cups coconut water or aloe vera juice for desired consistency
