Healthy Chocolate Mousse Smoothie

This month’s Well+Good smoothie is deceptively healthy—it’s a chocolate mousse smoothie that we’ll be sipping pre-workout (potassium-packed avocado fuel!) and pre-holiday party (it makes the dessert table less tantalizing).

What makes it healthy? Avocado provides a dose of healthy fats, which are ideal for the winter months. They add moisture to our skin, and are loaded with antioxidants, potassium, and B vitamins for energy.

Raw cacao powder (chocolate’s pure form) is one of the highest antioxidant-rich foods—four times as much as green tea. Dates and maple syrup act as seasonal, natural sweeteners, and unsweetened almond milk adds depth and richness. Top it off with dried mulberries, a superfood packed with vitamin C and iron, and which might even help you ward off winter sniffles. —Jennifer Kass

1/2 avocado
1 tbs cacao powder
1 tsp maca powder
3 dates
1 tbs maple syrup
1 1/2 c organic unsweetened almond milk
Garnish with mulberries

    While many of these look yummy, I wish all of these smoothies had calorie counts listed!
