The Week in Wellness: Megan Hilty with kettlebells, Wanderlust’s 2013 lineup, and more
Don’t be the only one at the office this week who doesn’t know which new fitness studio just opened (and is flooded with celebrities) or where that new vegan hotspot is.
We’ll keep you in-the-know with this weekly round-up of the most important wellness news—including fitness and yoga studio openings, juice cleanses, better beauty news, and more:
On Saturday, Dasha Libin’s Kettlebell Kickboxing hosted a fitness gala with Smash star Megan Hilty. Guests walked the red carpet in VSX by Victoria’s Secret and had brunch created by healthy celeb chef Candice Kumai, with proceeds benefiting the Joyful Heart Foundation.
Wanderlust announced its complete lineup for the 2013 season. Star yogis like Seane Corn, Shiva Rea, Elena Brower, and Dharma Mittra will be teaching at its six major festivals around the world, and music includes Moby, Trombone Shorty, and Gramatik. What, no Kanye?
The Lower East Side’s Yoga High opened the doors to its new studio on Tuesday. The new location is at 98 Forsyth between Grand and Broome.
And yogis will be excited to hear that Chelsea Piers is bringing Yogi Charu to the gym for a donation-based Yoga Master Class, co-taught with Paulo Hudson, on February 23. Proceeds will benefit the Chelsea Piers Scholarship Fund.
DNAinfo.com reported that a massive rock climbing gym will be coming to Long Island City this spring. The owner describes the upcoming space as “one of the largest gyms in the country.”
Looking for something to do this weekend besides staring out at the snow? Channel Babycakes at the Bell House’s vegan bake-off in Gowanus, or attend a Beyonce dance party at Barry’s Bootcamp in Chelsea.
And healthy food-delivery services are growing—with Paleo meals from Kettlebell Kitchen set to launch this spring and the debut this week of Bliss’s 3-day Happy Cleanse, the first major cleanse to emerge from the spa world.
