Norma Kamali taps Gingersnap’s Organics for her Wellness Cafe

Screen shot 2013-03-05 at 5.41.20 PMEast Village raw-food hotspot Gingersnap’s Organics now has an uptown outpost. Fashion designer Norma Kamali has begun stocking selections of raw food and juice in her 57th Street store Wellness Café.

“Now our people can walk to get our stuff in Midtown with out having to pay for delivery,” says Gingersnap’s founder Jamie Graber, grinning from ear to ear that her fare was personally chosen by the healthy designer.

At the Wellness Café, Gingersnap’s Organics will join other the healthy brands (personal care and bespoke olive oils to Physique 57 DVDs) that Kamali personally vets and stocks, and it will replace Juice Press as the main food purveyor. (A little more than a year ago, Juice Press replaced Organic Avenue here.) Perhaps Kamali likes to support the up-and-comers?

“There is an explosion of juice and raw foods now, which is great for everyone,” explains Kamali. “Though authentic raw, organic juices and foods are harder to find. Jamie Graber opened Gingersnap’s Organic with the intention to create delicious fresh food and juices with thoughtful expertise and the best ingredients.” The result, according to Kamali? “Raw, vegan, gluten-free food and juices anyone will love.”
