SoulCycle introduces a new booking system and website

It’s been a big year for SoulCycle, and it’s not even February yet.

In addition to the launch of their fashion collaboration with Shopbop and a pop-up studio at Sundance Film Festival, the indoor cycling empire has plans to launch a new website on Tuesday, January 21 [update: SoulCycle informed us that the launch will be later this week] that will “revolutionize” the way that riders book classes, says SoulCycle’s co-founder Julie Rice.

Where riders have famously (and often secretly) arranged their work meetings and client lunches around 11:59 a.m. on Mondays, when the SoulCycle sign-up window opens for classes over the following week, now devotees will be able to create an unlimited queue of desired classes and bookmark them prior to sign up time. So at the strike of noon, all of your saved classes will have been teed up for booking.

“It’s going to simplify and streamline the sign-up process,” Rice says. “Soul-Cycle.com gets approximately 50,000 log-ins on Mondays when riders can sign up for classes. Now you won’t be clicking from one studio to another studio to search for classes during sign-ups.”

In addition, the new website will introduce features that spotlight its best assets—its instructors and its clothing line. New instructor profile pages will be loaded with intel about Stacey Griffith, Kym Perfetto, and the whole team, as well as their teaching styles and schedules, class playlists, social media handles, and more. It will also reveal a much-improved online SoulCycle shop for its monthly clothing collections, and a new online magazine to showcase the products.

The SoulCycle website redesign, which founders Rice and Elizabeth Cutler hinted at last summer, also includes more dynamic content, from videos and a community blog to real-time social media sharing capability, so you can boast about your just booked back-to-back classes or fab new skull hoodie.

If that weren’t enough, a SoulCycle app is set to debut next spring, but Rice is staying mum about that for now. “It’s still slightly under wraps, but we can tell you that it will have a GPS function, so you’ll be able to find out where the nearest class to you is at anytime,” Rice says. That sounds like the brand is headed in the right direction. —Jamie McKillop
