Happy Pride Month! Here Are Airbnb’s Top 20 Cities for LGBTQ Travelers

June is beloved for many things, namely ushering in the summer season, celebrating dads, and, (arguably) most importantly, showing your Pride. The now-global Pride Month originated in the United States in the 1970s as a single day to commemorate the Stonewall Riots in New York City but has since evolved: It's now a whole month that includes protests, activism, and celebration. To help revelers maximize the festivities, Airbnb just released a list of the top 20 places in the world to celebrate Pride this year.

Before naming the top spots, Airbnb pinpointed 100 global locales with the highest Pride attendance and then ranked the reigning 46 based on local marriage rights, Pride celebrations, travel, Tinder dating, and the number of LGBTQ nightlife options.

And, according to the results, you don't have to venture far to experience some of the best Pride options: Five of the top 20 spots are in the United States, with New York City unsurprisingly claiming the title. (The research showed that the Big Apple is home to the most LGBTQ-friendly nightlife options, and 27,000 guests have already booked Airbnbs during Pride Week, after all.) Peppered throughout the rest of the top on the list 20 list are San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Boston.

If, however, you've saved some PTO specifically to travel internationally to show your Pride, then consider London. The city came in second place, has the most annual growth regarding Airbnb guest arrivals during Pride, and hosts the highest per capita usage of LGBTQ Tinder profiles. (So, at the very least, it's a great place for scouting a summer fling.) Other European cities in the ranking are Paris, Berlin, and Madrid. Outside of Europe and North America, Tokyo, and Sao Paulo also made the top 20; the latter actually has the most-attended Pride celebrations in the entire world, with 3 million visitors in 2017.

Check out the complete top 20 list below.
