1. Senior Editor

Well+Good, the premier lifestyle and news publication dedicated to the wellness scene, has an immediate opening for a full-time Senior Editor in its airy and light-filled New York offices, where there may also occasionally be free green juices and coffee.

Reporting directly to the Editorial Director, the Senior Editor is a whip-smart, detail-obsessed editorial standard bearer who will be responsible for maintaining, on a day-to-day basis, the consistency, readability and accuracy of our product. The Senior Editor will also partner with the Features Editor to help set our editorial product development and strategy.

The ideal candidate will have experience with online lifestyle journalism, preferably within health and wellness or fitness and beauty, a proven background in top editing and copy editing, excellent news and photo judgment, and the ability to make any piece of copy sing, from the headline through the body. Bottom line: you make everything beautiful and you don’t let crap get published. Under your watch, no substandard content will ever see the light of the Internet’s day.

This is not a reporting role. Instead, you will be managing a number of editorial projects and helping develop the writing chops of a dedicated and growing team of staff writers and freelancers. This is the perfect opportunity for a wellness-obsessed editor who is passionate about perfecting voice, tone and presentation.

The ideal candidate should also be positive, extremely organized and adept at working under tight daily deadlines.

The ability to teach us a thing or two about crow pose or willingness to share your favorite smoothie bowl recipes is also totally a bonus.

Responsibilities:

Edit Well+Good copy (25-30 articles per week)

Maintain consistency, readability, and accuracy of Well+Good editorial voice

Improve article clarity and organization and, if needed, infuse with house voice and tone

Compose and edit newsletter subject and cover lines

Edit internal and partner social media

Compose and edit sponsored copy

Manage and edit special editorial features, as needed

Supervise freelancers

Assess Weekly Audience Growth Reports (attend weekly meetings)

Evaluate articles and social media for traffic generation patterns

Provide content strategy recommendations

Represent the Well+Good brand

Qualifications:

Minimum 6+ years experience as a senior editor at a fast-paced publication

A passion for healthy living and the wellness scene (you speak Barry’s Bootcamp, Flywheel, and Juice Press)

Experience managing and coaching teams

Experience working directly with high-profile advertisers and/or interview subjects

Ability to write quickly and concisely with wit and sophistication

Diligent, self-motivated and eager to contribute

Accurate, thorough, and detail-obsessed

Ability to manage and prioritize multiple simultaneous projects

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Internet savvy

Photoshop and Adobe Suite experience a plus (not required)

2. Full-Time Writer (Freelance Contract)

Well+Good, the premier lifestyle and news publication dedicated to the wellness scene, has an immediate opening for a full-time wellness writer, based in its airy and light-filled New York offices, where there may also occasionally be free green juices and coffee.

The writer will be responsible for writing and producing news and features articles (approx. 8–10 per week) as well as email newsletters.

The ideal candidate will have a journalism background and at least two years’ experience writing for an online lifestyle site, preferably within health and wellness, and/or fitness, beauty, and healthy food.

This is a fast-paced reporting role. It requires stepping into the flow of a news room, and working alongside a smart and passionate editorial team.

This is the perfect opportunity for a wellness-obsessed writer who is cares about wellness and content production/publishing/media in equal measure.

The ideal candidate should also be positive, extremely organized and adept at working under tight daily deadlines.

Ability to write quickly and concisely with wit and sophistication
