Whole Foods Somehow Mixed up Chicken and Tuna—and Jessica Simpson Posted the Perfect Response

Mic drop, 14 years in the making.
In 2003, Jessica Simpson asked the question that changed the world: "Is this chicken, what I have? Or is this fish? I know it's tuna, but it says chicken...by the sea?"

It was by far the buzziest scene from the singer's long-ago MTV show Newlyweds (AKA the best reality show ever) with then-husband Nick Lachey—as Simpson pondered the meaning of chicken vs. fish while she dug into a bowl of Chicken of the Sea tuna. (Lachey's reaction was equal parts befuddled and sweetly explanatory.)

So when news broke that Whole Foods had to recall 440 pounds of buffalo-style chicken salad after employees discovered the 12.5-ounce individual packets actually contained tuna, Simpson was ready—and sympathetic.

Talk about a mic drop moment 14 years in the making.

But fear not, buffalo chicken fans (or tuna haters). Before the recall, the "chicken salad," which came from Willow Tree Poultry Farms in Attleboro, MA, had only reached 35 stores in Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York, and it wasn't so much a product error as it was just a labeling mix-up, Delish reports. (The brand's popular cranberry-apple tuna salad was inside the packets labeled buffalo chicken salad.)

Well played, Jessica—but it's a good thing that Whole Foods staffers are better at the whole chicken-fish thing than the social media-savvy star.

Meanwhile, there are some serious shakeups going on at Whole Foods these days. Here's everything we know so far about the Amazon and Whole Foods deal. And here's what's new in the produce section and in the beauty aisles
