5 Ethereal, Secluded Tree Houses on Airbnb for Your Restorative Getaway
While adulthood has not yet afforded me a backyard or even a single tree (unless you count my shower garden), I do now have some disposable income and a serious case of wanderlust. So, I used that motivation to peruse Airbnb and uncover six ethereal, secluded tree houses around the world where you can stay the next time you need some peace and quiet and to fill your lungs with the scents of fresh pine and rain.
There are domestic options and others in lands far, far away (but still filled with the necessary properties of millennial lifeblood: avocados and coffee).
Find your dream tree house below.
1. Willow, New York, $325 per night
This dreamy spot is a mixture of modern minimalism and rustic natural vibes. Situated 15 minutes outside Woodstock, the secluded home overlooks a pond that you can swim in.
2. Fern Forest, Hawaii, $220 per night
Built to peacefully coexist and blend in with the nature around it, the Hawaiian tree house uses solar energy and rainwater to power your amenities.
3. Bilpin, Australia, $850 per night
Set between two national parks and a world heritage rain-forest site, the tree house in Australia has floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook 600 acres of private wildlife and natural landscapes. Plus there's a built-in hot tub.
4. Atlanta, Georgia, $375 per night
Not only is this one of Airbnb's most-Instagrammed listings, but it's also one of the site's most wish-listed. A floating bridge with fairy lights connects three suites in the woods. They do seem to be perpetually booked, however, so if you want a chance to nab a night or two at this spot, plan to book pretty far in advance.
5. Bellingham, Washington, $75 per night
Offering a mix of prime forest-bathing and indoor-stargazing opportunities, the home in Washington State is tucked into the forest and has ocean views plus a lookout deck that's ideal for your nature-basking activities.
