DIY This 3-Ingredient Insecticidal Spray to Keep Your Indoor Garden Pest-Free
To prevent pests from taking over your healthy home (and your life!), all you really need is some insecticidal soap. According to Apartment Therapy, the nontoxic solution gets rid of small, soft-bodied insects—like spider mites, aphids, whiteflies, and mealybugs—and keeps them from killing off your prized plants. While you can buy the insecticidal soap, it's so easy to make that you might as well just DIY it yourself—and save some major bucks in the process.
You just need 1/4 cup vegetable oil, 1 Tbsp liquid dish soap (one that doesn't contain bleach, degreaser, synthetic dyes, or fragrances), and water.
You just need 1/4 cup vegetable oil, 1 Tbsp liquid dish soap (one that doesn't contain bleach, degreaser, synthetic dyes, or fragrances), and water. Easy, huh? After putting the vegetable oil and dish soap into a spray bottle, fill it to the top with warm water and shake up all the ingredients. Then, you can spray the mix right onto your plants on a weekly basis until every last one of those creepy-crawlies is gone for good.
