This Is the Most Googled Drugstore Makeup Brand in the U.S.—Here Are the 5 Items to Buy
They compiled data from Google Trends to determine the most-searched makeup brands in every state. While the luxury lineup was fascinating (people really love their IT Cosmetics and Laura Lee, huh?), what really struck my interest was the most-searched drugstore makeup brand in the U.S. The winner? Drumroll please: Physicians Formula.
This was news to me, as it's admittedly not the first name that pops into my head when I think, "drugstore cosmetics." But it's actually an under-the-radar, makeup artist-beloved makeup line that's chock-full of dependable cosmetics bags staples. And it's known for having hypoallergenic, safer-for-your-skin ingredients, which is great news for those with sensitive skin or eyes that tend to water up from certain mascaras (raises hand). Plus, it's something you can get at the drugstore, which means it's better for your wallet.
In case all of this didn't give you enough reasons to love the brand, the story behind it also happens to be aww-worthy levels of romantic. Physicians Formula was founded by an allergist who wanted to create makeup that his wife, who suffered from lupus and had sensitive skin, could wear without irritation (I'm not crying you're crying). So everything in the line's tested to make sure it provides pops of color and good coverage, sans angry reactions. And since it's been around since 1937, there are so many products to choose from, which span all of the usual makeup category suspects. To help you navigate the aisles, we've rounded up the five must-have Physicians Formula buys to nab at the drugstore.
Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer Murumuru, $16
One of the brand's top-rated products is this creamy bronzer, which fakes a sun-kissed glow in an easy swipe. And it's called a butter bronzer for a reason—the compact is filled with a blend of moisturizing butters that glide onto your skin to deliver both pigment and hydration.
Physicians Formula The Healthy Foundation SPF 20, $16
This foundation falls into the skin-care-makeup hybrid category, since it's full of antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, and vitamins A, C, and E to keep your skin happy as you get medium to full (and breathable) coverage.
Physicians Formula Eye Booster Lash 2-in-1 Boosting Eyeliner & Serum, $12
I love a multitasking product (and really, who doesn't?). This one defines your eyes with an easy to use liner that also has peptides in it to promote the growth of your lashes. A double win.
Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free Correcting Powder, $15
The best hack for faking an even complexion? Using a color corrector. This one's a good-for-you formula that tones down redness and brightens without caking on your skin.
Physicians Formula Healthy Lip Velvet Liquid Lipstick, $9
If you're into a matte lip, this is the perfect, cushion-y gloss that coats your pout with serious pigment. This lipstick has avocado oil in it, which makes it glide easily on your lips to add both moisture and color.
