These $15 Shower Mists Will Turn Your Bathroom Into a Full-on Spa
The three mists, which launched at Ulta earlier this month, use naturally-derived aromatherapy notes to enhance your shower sesh. There's a rosemary- and rosewood-scented "Awaken" option, which also uses coriander to enhance your mood and bergamot to reduce nervous tension; a monoi and sandalwood-scented "Sleep" spritz that also taps lavandin to encourage relaxation; and a turmeric and citron-scented "Detox" concoction that layers in ginger to help you relax. In order to reap the benefits, all you have to do is spray the mists two or three times under running water, and inhale as your bathroom magically transforms into your own personal spa.
"The shower is a great time to make use of essential oils," says Amy Galper, founder of the New York Institute of Aromatherapy. "The heat from the shower helps disperse the vapors of the oils, making them easier to breathe in, and the heat also opens the pores of our skin, making it easier for the oils to enter our bodies." While using essential oils can be helpful throughout the day, she suggests using more energizing scents in the morning—like citrus and peppermint—to help prepare you to focus during the day, and using sedating and calming ones—like lavender and wood notes—in an evening shower to help you relax before bed.

Having tested the spritzes for myself, I can confirm that they make every shower experience feel like the next best thing to a spa trip. Each of the three scents offers a de-stressing element and they happen to smell really, really good. No matter which one I'm using (because, yes, it differs by the day), I feel totally rejuvenated when it comes time to towel off. Going to the spa may not be an option right now, but bringing the spa into your home most certainly is.
