Samsung Health Is About to Push Your Wellness Routine Into the Jetsons Age
The Jetsons had us believing that we'd all be living in smart houses by 2062. But thanks to Samsung, the future is here 40 years earlier than expected. And it's much more wellness-friendly than we could have imagined.
Today, Samsung announced Samsung Health for your Smart TV, a revolutionary new technology offering that turns your entire home into your very own wellness retreat. With all of us spending more of our waking hours at home than ever before, it couldn't have come at a better time.
The platform connects your Samsung SmartTV to your phone and wearable, creating an integrated wellness experience to carry you throughout your day. The brand has partnered with wellness-space leaders like Obé Fitness, Calm, Fitplan, Echelon, Barre3, and Jillian Michaels Fitness, to offer more than 5,000 hours of free content.
Instead of waking up to the blaring sound of your phone alarm, your Samsung TV will greet you and give you the option of a morning workout from one of its partner apps. When you head into the kitchen for breakfast, the app will suggest breakfast options based on what your body needs post-sweat session. Throughout the day, your wearable will track your stress levels, and when you get home your TV will be ready and waiting with a meditation to help you transition into your evening (bonus: some of the ones on Calm are read by Matthew McConaughey). At bedtime, you'll have the option of falling asleep to music or a sleep story.

You have the option of programming the platform to best fit your own routines (so, for example, you can swap your a.m. workout for an afternoon one, if that's more your style), and you can commit yourself to individual challenges that the system will help motivate you to stick with.
“The whole intention of Samsung Health is to motivate our consumers to live healthier lives by meeting them wherever they are, across Samsung platforms,” Won-Jin Lee, executive vice president for Samsung Electronics, said in a statement. “We knew that to do this, we needed to develop a user-centric and immersive platform that offered a variety of in-home fitness and wellness options. Given the current climate, we hope that the launch of Samsung Health makes it easier for our consumers to prioritize their physical and mental wellbeing on a daily basis."
While the platform is at its best when used across Samsung devices (and the TV portion only works on a Samsung SmartTV), you can access the app via your phone and other wearables like the Apple Watch and FitBit. You can snag a SmartTV starting at $530, and all the content is included.
We may not be able to leave our homes (for now, at least), but thanks to Samsung Health, home isn't such a bad place to be.
