3 Women Share Their Post-Workout Hair-Care Hacks for Keeping Their Curls On Point
But that doesn't mean good hair days and HIIT workouts have to be mutually exclusive—you just need the right hair-care essentials. To prove it, we asked three women to share their best curly hair tips after using the four products from the Sunday || Sunday Moisture Balance Kit, a line specifically formulated for active women: Root Refresh Micellar Rinse, Soothe Me Daily Scalp Serum, Revive Me Daily Moisturizing Spray, and Edge Flourish Daily Nourishing Serum.
The products (which just launched at Sephora!) are made with botanical ingredients that support hair health by removing sweat and balancing moisture, so you don't have to compromise when it comes to exercising vs. protecting and/or styling your hair (because yes, you can have both).

I usually do yoga for 30 minutes twice during the week and one hour on the weekends, and when I finish up after a workout my scalp tends to be very itchy and my curls become frizzier. However, after using the Sunday || Sunday products, I've noticed my curls continue to look refined, my scalp isn't as itchy, and the different scents make my hair smell so good.
Root Refresh is my favorite product out of the bunch. Since I wash my hair once a week, it becomes dry and over time my curls start to get loose. I prefer how my hair looks around day three or four because that’s when I’ll have the most volume, but it also starts to look a bit dry. Root Refresh was perfect to use throughout the week because it brings moisture back into my hair and it helps it look like I’ve washed and styled my curls (even though I haven’t).

Her curly hair-care tips:
My advice for women with curly hair would be to not stress so much on how your hair may look, but how it feels and if it's healthy. There's different types of curly hair and it's not meant to all look the same. It's all trial and error. I'm still seeing what works best for my hair and I'm 30! As long as you're doing the steps to take care of it, you'll eventually see the results you're looking for because we all know curly hair isn't easy to maintain.
I try to do three strength training sessions per week, followed by cardio (either riding my Peloton or running outside). I typically just throw my hair in a bun, and I definitely relate to feeling like I have to choose between a good hair day and a good workout. I usually don't do a rigorous workout if my hair is straightened because it will sweat out. When it's curly, I also don't style it if I'm going to work out because it's usually not worth the effort.
With the Sunday || Sunday products though, I actually looked forward to stying it, and wore my hair curly more often than straight (which is huge for me). My hair felt softer, my curls were more moisturized, and instead of wearing my usual bun, I had my hair in a ponytail with my curls out.
I have a dry scalp, which can be frustrating when you’re wearing your hair curly because even though your hair is damp, the scalp dries out. I loved the Soothe Me Scalp Serum because it was easy to apply to my dry areas, and I noticed that those areas were much more hydrated. I also really liked the Edge Flourish Daily Nourishing Serum, and was surprised that it actually moisturized my edges. Some other edge products I've used have flaked afterwards, but this was soft with no hardening, flaking, or drying out of my skin.

Embrace your curls and wear them according to your mood! No curly hair day is ever the same. And if you're like me and you don't always have the patience to wash, condition, and style your curls after every workout (who has time for that!?), Root Refresh will be your secret weapon.
I typically work out at night after work or first thing in the morning on the weekends, and in either scenario my hair can look a little frazzled. To be honest, I never really thought about caring for my hair while working out, which may explain why after workouts my curls look more like Tom Hanks’ in Castaway and less like Nicole Kidman’s in The Undoing.
Add on the fact that I always work out in a ponytail (which means my hair has a noticeable ponytail line when I take it down), and you'll understand why I've never felt like I could do a workout and then style my hair without wetting it in the shower. But with the Sunday || Sunday kit, I was able to transition from pre- to post-workout without immediately hopping in the shower, something I previously thought was an urban legend.
The Revive Me Moisturizing Spray was probably my hero product out of the bunch. It smells great, made my hair feel really silky, but also helped to maintain the shape of my pre-workout curls post workout. I can’t tell you how many moisturizing sprays I’ve tried over the years, and this one has the perfect consistency. I used this after my workouts instead of showering, and it helped snap back the shape and style of my curls. A first for me!

Humor. Have humor. There's going to be times when your hair looks like it worked out harder than you did, and that's okay—that's why hats were invented! But, when you find a good product that works, buy it in all the sizes and stash it everywhere (bathroom, gym bag, regular bag, office drawer, and anywhere else you might be) so you're never without it!
