These 5 Lesser-Known Angel Numbers Are Just as Meaningful—Here’s What They’re Trying to Tell You

Whether or not you believe in angels or any other type of divine being, numerologist Josh Siegel suggests viewing these angel numbers meanings as messengers from a higher or universal power. “When you’re experiencing one of these numbers, it’s possible that there’s some sort of shift or change or awakening happening in your life,” he says. “And the number is showing up synchronistically as an indicator or foreshadower of that.”

In some cases, an angel number you’re seeing on repeat could be a version of what numerology calls your base or life-path number, says Siegel, which you can identify by adding up the individual digits of your birthday until you get a single number 1 through 9 (unless you wind up with 11, 22, or 33, which are considered master numbers).

The meanings of recurring angel numbers can serve as universal symbols for events or changes that are happening (or are about to happen) in your life.
For example (and stick with me here), my birthday is 1/20/95, so I’d start by adding 1+9+9+5 to get 24, at which point I’d add the 2+4 to get 6 for the year. Then, I’d add the numbers 2+0 to get 2 for the day. And finally, I’d add it all together: 1 for the month + 2 for the day + 6 for the year = 9. This means 9 is my life-path number, which is linked with a desire to fight for big ideals. So, if I were to keep seeing the angel number 999 or some iteration of 18 (1+8=9), it may be mirroring that life purpose or lesson encapsulated by my 9 base number, according to Siegel.
But occasionally, angel numbers' meanings aren’t so obviously tied to your base number, and can instead serve as universal symbols for events or changes that are happening (or are about to happen) in your life. They might not be perfectly repeated patterns like 222 or 1111 or just aren’t as touched on in popular discourse, but they hold just as meaningful messages from the universe—and you’d be wise to take note.
Below, numerologists walk through a few of the lesser-discussed angel numbers meanings that carry with them key symbolism.
The 5 angel numbers meanings, according to numerologists:
911
At first glance, 911 could raise an eyebrow or your heartrate—are you or someone you need in dire need of help? Well, according to numerology, it’s more so that you have a powerful message to share with the world if this number keeps popping up in your purview. That’s based on the implication of 11s within it: The second part of it is an 11; if you add up the three digits, it equals 11; and if you add 91 to 1, you get 92, which can also net out to 11, if you separate the 9 and the 2, and add those, explains Siegel.
“[The number] 11 is considered a master number because it combines two 1’s, and 1 is linked to dynamic leadership,” he says. There's also an even balance to the number 11, and in tarot, the 11th card is the justice card, all of which means a 911 angel number could task you with taking a definitive stand in some arena of your life about what you consider to be right and wrong—and doing so in a way that supports the greater good.
Keeping this in mind, if you have love on the brain, numerology expert Letao Wang explains that 911 could be signaling your attention to patterns, whether in love or in a current relationship, that are no longer working to the benefit of those involved. “it can indicate the end of a cycle, paving the way for newfound emotional clarity,” says Wang. This makes sense, considering Wang adds that for spirituality, 911 is urging expansion and growth and to recognize your soul’s purpose.
In terms of money and career, seeing 911 repeatedly could encourage you to take charge and abandon your limiting beliefs that could keep you from actualizing your goals—no matter how big or unachievable you may think they are.
1212
Change is likely a-brewing if you're continually seeing angel number 1212. Siegel sees this number as signaling a time when you might have a change of heart, a change of mind, or some other kind of re-evaluation of your life, in terms of becoming more emotionally and creatively fulfilled. “Let’s say that you have some creative gifts that perhaps you aren’t using, and a 1212 pops up in your life. Maybe it’s telling you that it’s time to pick up that guitar or start making things or creating,” says Siegel.
That change could come through how you express your perspective. “You may find yourself being more open and honest, perhaps posting more on social media or developing a new and powerful opinion,” says Siegel. And as you adopt new things, old things could fall by the wayside, too. “Perhaps you pivot from an old career track or an old relationship, or learn to draw new boundaries,” he adds.
In keeping with the theme of change and new beginnings, Wang adds that seeing 1212 frequently, from a spiritual standpoint, symbolizes spiritual awakening and enlightenment. Maybe you’re in a transitional period, which can understandably arouse feelings of resistance and fear of uncertainty. Seeing 1212 is confirmation that things are changing because you’re on the precipice of the path toward a spiritual awakening.
When it comes to love and relationships, it’s possible that there’s an imbalance of energies or even power dynamics that are causing qualms within your idea of love or in an existing relationship. “Seeing 1212 suggests a need for harmony and balance, encouraging deeper connections,” adds Wang. This angel number invites you to lean into the concerns and needs of your partner (or within yourself if you’re thinking of starting a new relationship), and tend to those expectations to foster a deeper bond.
From the context of money and your career, Wang responds that seeing 1212, “Represents new opportunities and the manifestation of goals through positive thoughts and actions.” In other words, this is an action-forward angel number. You have your incentives and plan laid out, but now it’s time to take a leap of faith and shimmy your way into idealizing them. Are you thinking of a career switch? This angel number could be encouraging you to finally ditch your current profession and chase after a long-term dream of yours instead.
1313
Despite being popularly connoted as being unlucky and representing karmic gloom and doom, 13 isn’t all so bad, says Siegel. In a similar vein to angel number meaning of 12, the angel number 13 deals with change on the horizon, but relates to a more fundamental upheaval. After all, the 13th tarot card is the death card, so you can consider a recurrence of 1313 as a time for being reborn.
“Maybe you’re in a dead-end job, or you’re stuck in a rut or going through a period of monotony,” says Siegel. “13 can come along and ask you to consider, ‘What’s holding me back?’ and ‘What am I afraid of?’” While 1313 can be a harbinger of a challenging period, Siegel says that it’s ultimately tied to an opportunity to uncover a new life direction less riddled by fear, anxiety, or stress.
With change being the cornerstone of this angel number’s meaning, Wang explains that in terms of your spiritual wellness, seeing 1313 is a message of surrender and allowance—an allowance to lean on your spirit guides for the support that you need to grow into your spirituality. “In spirituality, 1313 is a reminder to embrace change and be open to the guidance of your angels,” Wang reiterates.
If your love life is on your mind when you see 1313 repeatedly, Wang adds that it’s all about the vulnerability of conversation. Are you being practical or genuine with yourself in terms of your needs in love? If not, seeing 1313, per Wang, “Signifies the importance of communication and expression of feelings.” It’s time to get to the crux of an issue or something that’s been weighing heavily on your heart.
When it comes to your finances and profession, seeing 1313 is an invitation to shake off your inhibitions and allow yourself to be wild in your creative ideas—even your outlandish or unorthodox ideas could be rewarding. “Concerning money and career, it suggests that creativity and innovation will lead to prosperity,” says Wang.
1414
If 13 energy reflects a resistant-to-change vibe, 14 energy is just the opposite: People who have a 14 in their numerology chart (which includes your base number and several others mapped by a numerologist) tend to be restless, active, out-and-about people. And if you’re seeing 1414 on repeat, that could signal one of two things, says Siegel: Either, you may need to be more attuned to certain impulsive, over-the-top actions that aren’t serving you, or, by contrast, you’re being pushed to break free from limitations in your life, and do more of those spontaneous behaviors. Engaging in some introspection can lend insight into which side of the number’s meaning is, perhaps, most applicable in your life.
A similar sentiment can be said in terms of your spiritual path, explains Wang, where even during times of fluctuations and uncertainty, it’s all about being patient and trusting of the process. If feeling spiritually attuned is uncomfortable to you, for example, seeing 1414 is asking you to fully lean into the process—maybe even lose yourself in it a little bit.
If you’re combing through the topic of love and relationships, seeing 1414 is a reminder that no, you aren’t asking for too much in love, and that you should stay the course even when it gets rocky. “In love, it encourages you to stay optimistic and be true to yourself,” says Wang. You don’t need to change yourself or your way of thinking about relationships necessarily, and sticking to your boundaries and standards is how you manifest the love you want.
With respect to career and money, Wang explains that seeing 1414 is a moment to assess the situation and make meaningful decisions that move the needle forward. “In the context of finance and career, 1414 indicates the need for hard work and determination to achieve your dreams,” explains Wang. If you’ve been feeling disconnected or discouraged at work, then this number is asking that you regain focus on the task at hand and put in extra effort (and maybe even hours) into a project.
72
Siegel draws the influence of this particularly angelic angel number from several historical sources, including astrology and the Kabbalah, a school of thought in Jewish mysticism. In Kabbalah, there’s thought to be 72 angels connected to God’s 72 names. And in astrology, each of these angels rules over one part of the zodiac wheel (its 12 sections encompassing all 12 signs divide evenly into 72 five-degree portions, if you were curious about the math). All of that is to say that 72 is a symbolic number for connecting with a higher power or your own psychic energy, says Siegel.
Seeing 72 on repeat could also mean you’re tapping into universal patterns or a spiritual presence in your life, either by way of some sort of miraculous event (perhaps swerving out of the way just before a car crash) or even some inkling of past life or karmic energy. Wang echoes this sentiment, saying that the angel number 72 carries a message of personal growth and introspection. In other words, it might be the moment to integrate time in your daily rituals to accommodate your spiritual wellness.
When it comes to love and relationships, seeing 72 is a sign to embrace empathy with the other person in mind. Putting your ego and needs aside, the meanings of this angel number, “Highlights the value of compassion and understanding in fostering deeper bonds,” explains Wang. Notice where you’ve fallen short in some way and take accountability for the ways that you could’ve expressed care and love for someone (this includes yourself, BTW), and take actionable steps to make your partner feel secure moving forward.
If your career and finances are on your mind when you see 72 repeatedly, Wang says this could be signaling the need to harmonize your responsibilities and needs so they can work together rather than against each other. “[Seeing 72] emphasizes the importance of finding a balance between personal aspirations and professional commitments,” says Wang. Are you living in alignment with the goals you’ve set for yourself in your public-facing life as you are from within? Maybe you’re not feeling fulfilled or feel your efforts are needed elsewhere. Either way, it’s time to make the changes necessary so that you’re moving forward along your professional journey.
