7 Celebrity Makeup Artists Reveal Their Must-Have Spring Beauty Products
During the springtime, it’s crucial that we adjust our routines to address the rising temperatures and extra sweat that come with it. For warm weather, it’s all about removing the heavier, more hydrating products we used to keep skin nourished throughout the winter and replacing them with formulas that work with the extra humidity and moisture in the air.
While this can make for some pretty easy skin-care swaps—i.e., switching your thicker creams for lighter lotions—it's not as obvious when it comes to makeup. Because everyone's complexions are different, there's no one-size-fits-all here, so we tapped seven celebrity makeup artists to share their expertise on the must-have products for spring. The biggest takeaway from our conversations? It's essential to figure out exactly what your skin needs—whether that's extra UV protection, mattifying benefits, or a little extra shine—and find formulas that fill those needs while still allowing your skin to breathe.
Below, they share seven of their favorite spring makeup products. And trust us: there's something for everyone.
For Renee Loiz, it’s all about creating naturally glowy looks that work with warm temperatures. Her secret weapon? The Ami Cole Skin Enhancing Tint that she says “has a gorgeous satin finish and looks absolutely flawless on the red carpet.” It comes in six gorgeous shades, and falls squarely at the intersection of skin care and makeup.
Allan Avendaño is a makeup artist for celebs including Vanessa Hudgens, Madison Pettis, and Michaela Jaé. His must-have product for the warm weather months is Kosas Revealer Skin-Improving Foundation, which he calls “a perfect everyday foundation with SPF.” It has SPF 25 and “blends into the skin so seamlessly.”
Amy Forsyth and Emma Stone’s go-to makeup artist, Rachel Goodwin, focuses on products that repair, heal, and prepare the skin ahead of makeup application. Before putting on any complexion products, she preps the skin using Saint Jane’s Hydrating Petal Cream because it’s “perfect, lightweight, and super hydrating.”

Mandy Moore’s makeup artist, Kindra Mann, is known for creating barely-there makeup looks that highlight natural beauty. For a subtle shine and long-lasting hydration, she recommends Saint Jane’s Luxury Lip Shine. It’s perfectly tinted and glossy, but won’t leave behind any sort of sticky, goopy finish.
Mai Quynh’s makeup looks—which you may have seen on Lily Collins, Jessica Alba, and Sandra Oh— show off her client’s natural features. For spring, she recommends Ilia’s Liquid Serum Highlighter for a little bit of extra lit-from-within radiance that lasts all day long. This is a great product for anyone who likes the feel of matte foundation (which is the best choice during the summer months for anyone with an oily complexion), but wants their skin to look slightly dewy when they apply it.
For Lisa Aharon, there’s only one product you need to achieve a dewy and plump makeup look. Enter: Kat Burki’s Vitamin C Intensive Face Cream, which she deems “the perfect everyday moisturizer.” Considering derms recommend doubling down on antioxidants during the summer months (because they help protect against UV damage), this makes a great addition to your a.m. routine even on days you’re not wearing makeup.
Applying makeup to sweaty skin can be annoying and ineffective, since whatever you’re putting on will likely slip right off your face. To combat this, Grace Pae (who works with Lil Nas X) uses the Freck Cactus Water Cleansing Lactic Acid Toner to mitigate any extra sweat or oil that comes with the warmer weather.
