Shiny Leggings Now Come in Every Color—Here Are 9 You’ll Definitely Want Right Now
A few years ago, shiny leggings were reserved for super-outgoing fitness instructors, avant-garde stylistas, and the occasional big night out (in black only—to resemble leather).
But today they come in a rainbow of colors, from baby pink to kelly green, and a variety of patterns—and everyone rocks them. In other words, shiny leggings have morphed into an activewear staple that deserves a spot in your closet next to your stacks of basic black workout pants.
"I think the style was a slow roll at the beginning, but once women tried a pair on, they realized how universally flattering and comfortable the fabric is."
"The fact is that women love how they look and feel wearing them," explains Caroline White, founder of shiny-legging pioneer SukiShufu. (She notes that they've been the brand's best-seller since launching 2011.) "I think the style was a slow roll at the beginning, but once women tried a pair on, they realized how universally flattering and comfortable the fabric is."
And even better, according to White, is that there are hardly any style rules to follow when rocking the look: "I'd say the only thing you should avoid is wearing the same fabric on the top and bottom...I like to mix up textures and finishes, so if you're shiny on the bottom, break up the top half with a matte finish, like with a cotton jersey tank or sweatshirt."
