Meet Lena Dunham’s Crystal and Vegan Donut-Loving Yoga Instructor
Lena Dunham doesn't remember when she first met Beth Cooke. (They both had some admitted "wild child" days—and, er, nights.)
But at some point, the duo connected—and meanwhile, after cleaning up her act, Cooke found yoga to be a powerful anxiety-busting tool. "I was doing so many things for the first time—what felt like the first time. [My yoga mat] was the one place that helped me connect back to myself and also calm down."
Cooke's since made it her mission to share that vinyasa-as-grounding-force philosophy with others, not just at New York City yoga studio Y7, where she teaches, but also with clients like Dunham and Girls co-star Zosia Mamet.
It's easy to see why Dunham is so enamored of her yogi-BFF (who she meets with at least once a week for private sessions): Cooke's a ray of good-energy sunshine who genuinely wants to show every student of hers the endless benefits of yoga. Oh, not to mention the fact that she brings high-vibe crystals to her classes. Talk about good energy.
