Why Cate Blanchett Finds Practicing Gratitude so Important
In an interview with Byrdie, the actress acknowledged how incredibly easy is to focus on the negatives in life, which may be why she makes it her mission to stay positive and continually do little things to better herself. (Even if just for a few minutes a day.)
"Take five seconds to say 'Wow, I'm healthy today' or 'What a great breakfast.' We’re so busy focusing on the negative a lot, and there's a lot of negative." —Cate Blanchett
"Take five seconds to say 'Wow, I'm healthy today' or 'What a great breakfast,'" Blanchett said. "We’re so busy focusing on the negative a lot, and there's a lot of negative."
The star's workout routine also stems from her goal to promote her sense of inner positivity. "I always try to do a little bit of exercise, whatever makes you feel good about yourself. Try to do five minutes extra of that a day," she said.
Sure, complimenting your (delicious) overnight oats out loud might feel silly, but it just might work: Being vocal about what you're grateful for—whether that's out loud or in a journal—is a major mood booster. And you'll reap the benefits all day, and beyond.
