These Sequin Leggings Were *Made* for Making a New Year’s Eve at Home Feel Special
New Year's Eve during a pandemic hits different. Instead of making out with a stranger in a crowded bar at midnight, most of us will be ringing in 2022 in the comfort of our own homes. But though COVID safety may be altering your plans, that doesn't mean your sartorial choices have to suffer for the sake of the cause.
Enter: Commando's sequin leggings, which are everything I have ever wanted, needed, and dreamed of in an article of clothing. They marry the comfort of athleisure with the glitz of glitter, making them the perfect choice for a holiday celebration at home.
I've been a longtime fan of Commando's line of luxurious-looking leggings, and have accumulated so many pairs over the years that there is an entire section of my closet dedicated to them. Thanks to the fact that they feel like yoga pants but look like regular pants, I wear these babies all winter long. I've got them in faux suede, latex, and multiple shades of faux leather (black, red, and snakeskin print, if you really must know), but the black sequin pair are my all-time favorite—reserved for special occasions when I want to get dressed up and clink a champagne glass without having to deal with the discomfort of actual clothes.
The inside of the leggings is made from a stretch-jersey material, so they're easy to pull on and you won't have to worry about the sequins scratching up your skin. They've got a snug, high waist, and a slightly cropped ankle, and my favorite way to wear them is with heels and a crop top. Because they're so statement-making on their own, though, I don't have to think much about the rest of the outfit: Even if I'm just wearing a white T-shirt and slippers, which will probably be the case come January 31, they're still guaranteed to make me feel fabulous.
The only downside to Commando's sequin offering is that unlike the rest of the brand's leggings, you can't just toss them in the wash post-party—because they're so delicate, you'll need to hand wash them and hang 'em dry. But after that, they'll be good as new.
Though 2022 might not be starting off with quite the same bang as years past, there's no reason not to celebrate a little bit of sparkle—especially when that particular sparkle is perfect for parking it on the couch and watching Miley Cyrus and Pete Davidsons special (which, yes, is exactly what I'll be doing).
