This Motivational Trainer Inspires Her Clients to Get Fit *and* Give Back
We want to recognize the fitness instructors who don’t just look great on Instagram—but actually inspire us to be better. So together with ReebokONE, we asked you to nominate trainers for the second annual America’s Most Inspiring Trainer search. After over a thousand amazing stories, we’ve narrowed it down to 12 finalists—which means it’s time for you to choose a winner! Learn more about Courtney Farnet below, and cast your vote by November 26.

What inspired you to become a trainer?
In high school, I felt like an outcast. I started dieting and lost too much weight, which only made that time period in my life more difficult. I struggled to find my happy place until I discovered my passion for group exercise and the camaraderie it provided.
"The best part about a journey is the people you meet along the way and the stories they share."
Fitness helped me turn a difficult time in my life into an incredibly rewarding career. The people I train inspire me to continue my fitness journey and to keep sharing my story, which I hope encourages self-confidence and positive body image.
What’s your fitness philosophy?
Fitness is a journey, not a destination. The best part about a journey is the people you meet along the way and the stories they share. I teach members from ages 7 to 78, and despite what each participant is going through, we are all on this journey together.
What’s the most surprising thing you discovered about being a fitness pro?
I’ve always known that people are inherently good, but I am amazed by the magnitude of their generosity and willingness to support my non-profit, Courtney’s Cakes for a Cure, which benefits the families at St. Jude. I’ve personally fundraised more than $70,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, largely through the support of my members. At age 24, I’ve changed more lives than I ever would’ve imagined.
The winner of America’s Most Inspiring Trainer will score a one-year contract with Reebok and major coverage on Well+Good. Cast your vote now!
