Eating This Ketogenic Diet Staple Every Day Could Lower Your Risk of Heart Disease
The team of researchers in the UK and China looked at data from half a million adults from 10 different geographical areas in China. For eight years, researchers kept in touch with all the participants and followed up with them on their egg consumption and overall health. During this time, over 83,000 of the participants were diagnosed with a cardiovascular disease—and almost 10,000 died.
"There is an association between moderate level of egg consumption—up to one egg per day—and a lower cardiac event rate."
One of the major findings of the study was that people who ate an egg every day had a 26 percent less chance of having a stroke—one of the major causes of death. That's a pretty big percentage for one dietary habit. "The present study finds that there is an association between moderate level of egg consumption—up to one egg per day—and a lower cardiac event rate," the study's authors say, according to Science Daily. "Our findings contribute scientific evidence to the dietary guidelines with regard to egg consumption for the healthy Chinese adult."
Of course, this is just one study—though to be fair, quite an extensive one—and it only looked at people living in China, but the correlation was so profound that it's definitely of note. Carry on, keto, Paleo, and Whole30 eaters. Your favorite food is officially justified.
Soon, you might even see egg chips at your local grocery store. And this is the no-fail trick for perfectly poaching an egg.
