The First Stand-Alone Tory Sport Store Is Officially Open
After a highly successful run as a pop-up store in Soho last fall, the Tory Burch sporty-chic spin-off—which has already developed quite a following (see: the Tory Sport track pants that sold out online mere hours after they appeared on the runway)—is setting up shop with its first permanent brick-and-mortar store in the Flatiron district, joining fellow fitness-fashion neighbors such as Nike, Lululemon, and Bandier in what we like to call Spandex Alley.
"New York is perfect for our first store—the women are passionate about fashion and fitness. The location is ideal—it is close to our offices, and in Flatiron, which is the center for fitness studios," Tory Burch explained to us.
At first glance, the 5,000-square-foot store, at 129 Fifth Avenue, wears its well-pedigreed roots on its sleeves. The space is bright but clean, with uber-classic navy and white stripes accented with restrained bursts of primary colors. But it's not all country club; at the very least, this woman knows her way around Ditch Plains, too: "The store was inspired by the casual vibe of a Seventies surf lodge and the clean, simple lines of Scandinavian design," described Burch. "We introduced motion into the space to reflect the active spirit of sport."
Water sports aren't the only focus of the store: The two tennis ball-headed mannequins (in crisp-but-cool white tennis skirts) that greet shoppers at the entrance set the tone. Throughout the space, you'll find Tory Sport's full activewear collection, including high-performance clothing, bags, shoes, and accessories for all activities (with an emphasis placed on tennis, swimming, and golfing). Prices range from $35 for a cotton tee to $495 for a laser-eyelet tennis dress (serving prowess not included).

Not in New York City? The current spring collection just launched online as well—don't worry, you'll find the Tory Sport signature primary stripes in full force. And with future plans to set up (permanent) shop in East Hampton and a pop-up in Dallas later this year, the Tory Sport line seems to be on a full sprint to outfit you for all future workouts to come.
