The One Superfood Meghan Markle Isn’t Allowed to Eat While Traveling
According to The Sunday Express, there's a no-garlic policy in place when any member of the royal family is on official trips due to, you know, the superfood's ability to make your conversing companions want to stand far, far away from you so they don't have to encounter the aromatic remnants of your immunity-boosting meal ingredient. "Garlic is banned from being included in foods eaten by royal family members. With many meetings between official visitors, it is thought to be advised against to prevent any awkward bad breath," the site reports.

While that's not a problem for the Queen, whom, Darren McGrady, the royal chef at Buckingham Palace, says isn't fond of the superfood anyway, it's a go-to in many of Markle's favorite dishes—especially Filipino-style chicken adobo. "We can never serve anything with garlic or too much onions. The Queen would never have garlic on the menu," he says.
Garlic isn't the only food on the royals' no-no list, though. They also aren't allowed to eat shellfish or any seafood due to the chance that it contains harmful bacteria like E. coli that could lead to a foodborne illness—something that would disable the family from making their meetings and going about their royal duties. For now, Markle might just have to stick to the safe options—and save her love of garlic for behind closed doors.
