Meghan Markle’s Two-a-Day Wellness Practice Helps Her Stay Centered
Meghan Markle has a lot on her plate right now; she is becoming royalty in just a few months, after all. To relieve all the stress, the future duchess looks to a smart wellness practice: meditation.
While she was still an actress on Suits, Markle reportedly met with meditation expert and instructor Light Watkins through a mutual friend, and his structured training gifted her a serious well-being boost. "She’d been familiar with the practice and had been doing it on her own," Watkins told InStyle. "She came by my home studio and we did a little private meditation session. It’s four sessions over four days: I teach you how to meditate and you become self-sufficient in the practice. [Later], she checked in and said, 'I’m meditating every day, twice a day—it’s wonderful. Once in the morning for 20 minutes, and once in the afternoon for 20 minutes.'"

In addition to eating clean and exercising regularly, Watkins said meditation was the perfect healthy habit to add into her already-successful self-care routine: "I think she just saw meditation as just another tool that she could use. I think it ended up being a lot more profound than she originally thought. It seems like she was in a relatively good space beforehand and in a better space afterward."
Aside from the benefits that come with warding off stress, Watkins noted meditation also helps with sleep quality, boosts the immune system, and improves reproductive and digestive health. "If you don’t have a way of releasing that pressure on a daily basis, it’s like a pressure cooker. It just keeps building and building and building and then eventually it explodes. And when it explodes, that’s when you start getting your physical diagnoses and ailments," he said.
If Markle has been keeping up with her daily meditation sessions, no amount of wedding stress will get in the way of her being able to fully enjoy the big day. But considering the Spice Girls are reportedly performing at the reception, belting "Wannabe" and "Stop" at the top of her lungs could probably do the trick, too.
