Is This the Most French Girl-Approved Way *Ever* to Shower?
If there's a beauty product you know French women use for glowy skin, wouldn't you just want to pour it all over and use it everywhere in order to achieve an ounce of that trés parisien chicness? Well, with the case of micellar water—French women's cleanser of choice—you can and should do just that.
For what it's worth, micellar is the technology that contains specialized oil droplets suspended in water that trap and remove dirt. And it doesn't just work wonders for a quick yet effective facial cleanse—this micellar technology can also be put to good use in shampoos and body products, too (without being drying on brittle or chemically processed hair or stressed-out skin).
What's more, many dermatologists say that even though these face cleansers are usually rinseless, you can get even more benefit by washing them off and completely removing said dirt (especially for those with sensitive skin). And that's reason enough as any to get one in the shower ASAP.
"Micellar cleansers have the benefit of being extremely mild, so even people with the most sensitive skin can use them," says Joshua Zeichner, MD, a New York-based dermatologist. "They have their roots in France, first being used for the face—but the technology has now spread beyond the face to body cleansers and even shampoos."

He notes, however, that they're not as strong as traditional cleansers (they tend to have lower levels of surfactants which are what get you clean) so may not be the best choice for oily skin types. "When it comes to micellar-based shampoos, they're a great option for people with dry or colored hair," says Dr. Zeichner. Consider it a seasonally-appropriate option.
