At this year's Midwest Produce Expo, Garland Perkins, US retail solutions specialist at the Oppenheimer Group, revealed just how much of an influence millennials have on the market. And spoiler: It's kind of a lot. According to The Packer, between 30 and 60 percent of millennials buy their groceries online. (I mean, who wants to interrupt a binge-watching sesh for errands?)
This advent is predicted to majorly increase the amount of produce that's purchased digitally—which is currently only 4 percent, FYI—within the next 5 to 10 years because millennials are eating 2.7 servings of fresh produce a day (more than any previous generation). And unlike baby boomers, current young adults love getting it all shipped straight to their door.
