Outdoor Voices’ Latest CloudKnit Collection Is as Soft as It Sounds—And Proves You Can Wear Athleisure Just About Anywhere
Last Christmas, I received the softest, most snuggliest athleisure set I'd ever owned... or so I thought. Outdoor Voices' FreeForm 7/8 Legging ($88) and Bralette ($58) have been a cornerstone of my wardrobe for the past year now, taking me from sweaty workouts to last-minute errands to relaxing night's in front of my Netflix stream and everything in between. Its peachy, plush fabric has only gotten dreamier with every wash, never waning on the support front. I thought I reached comfort nirvana with the FreeForm line—until I met the brand's CloudKnit collection.
Almost exactly a year later after I received my beloved FreeForm 'fit, some new pieces from Outdoor Voices' winter CloudKnit collection arrived on my doorstep. I unwrapped them with low expectations, thinking they'd surely be comfortable, but not enough to make me break up with my FreeForm goodies for good. Ha... I didn't even have to try them on to know I was dead wrong. The CloudKnit fabric makes the FreeForm material seem rough.
For the record, OV CloudKnit isn't technically new, it's just new to me. The fabric line—a buttery, poly/spandex blend that insists, "no clouds were harmed in the making" of it—has been around for a few years now, with the brand creating and iterating on existing products each season.
For winter '22, Outdoor Voices re-launched its core line of marshmallow-like sweatpants, hoodies, tanks, and T-shirts, while expanding the collection with new, seasonal pieces, including a luxe robe, breezy cardigan, vintage-y stirrup leggings, and a brand new kid's collection, the first OV children's line to date.

Can confirm: Slipping into these silky styles is pretty much the closest thing you'll get to wearing a cloud. And while they're technically made for "low-sweat recreation" (cough cough, lounging), many of the new styles double as fashionable streetwear you can wear out on date night or out to drinks with friends. Get creative, and there are a million ways to style each piece. Only unlike jeans, or other "hard clothes" you want to break free from the moment you snap or button them on, you won't mind wearing these out one bit.
Below are a few of my favorite, most versatile styles from the '22 winter CloudKnit collection. I haven't had the heart to tell my FreeForm 'fit it's been replaced, though I'm sure it's taken a hint since I haven't been able to take these pieces off since they got here a few weeks ago.

Holy soft. These leggings feel like if silk and velvet had a baby, in the creamiest, snuggliest way possible. Their long, clean lines and stirrups give me mega ballerina vibes, like I should be practicing for The Nutcracker or something. They’re smooth, high-waisted, and honestly… make my butt look great. The pretty color-blocking doesn’t hurt either.
I got a medium and they’re definitely roomier than other leggings I own (great because I know I’ll inevitably throw them in the dryer and accidentally shrink them…). My only gripe with them is the stirrups don’t really stay in place unless I have socks on over top. It’s probably because they are on the bigger side for my body. This is a minor downside—they still make me feel like Misty Copeland nonetheless.

Ugh, I had such high hopes for this top because I’m a sucker for wraps, but I think I needed to size down (again, I got the medium.) It’s as buttery as the leggings, but feels too big and, unless I tie it super tight, it falls open or hangs weirdly across my chest.
However, I love that it’s an athleisure piece that can be worn as a going-out top. I popped it on with jeans and boots, tied the straps as tightly as I could, and it looked pretty cute—I just wish it fit a little tighter in the boobs and waist. Tl;dr—if you buy it, buy a size down since it runs big.

Wowowow. I want these in every single color. These are the most comfortable lounge pants I have ever owned, and I don’t say that lightly. As a commerce editor, I test a ton of sweatpants and these, without a doubt, are the best ones I’ve tried.
Like all the pieces in the collection, they’re made out of that cozy, cloud-like fabric that’s slightly stretchy and deliciously soft. I like these better than the Stirrup Leggings, though, because of the drawstring cord that allows for adjustability and the breezy legs that feel cool and unrestrictive when they’re on. Also—they’re long! I’m 5’9″ and find that most traditional yoga pants aren’t long enough for my legs, but these are just right. 10/10 all around.

Yes. Simply, yes. This flowy long-sleeve is my new go-to shirt that I wear with, quite literally, everything. Paired with the matching pants, it’s the ultimate relaxation outfit that makes lounging a thing of luxury. Other times, I’ll pop it on with leggings for a WFH outfit that’s business on the top and party on the bottom. (The button-up front is perfect for Zoom meetings.)
But my favorite way to wear this is as a going-out top because it’s sneakily a sleep shirt. It looks like an expensive cardigan but it feels like pajamas, giving me total cozy vibes even when I’m at a bar or club I don’t want to be at in the first place. And that’s what makes it worth every penny.

As I mentioned, these aren't the only pieces from the CloudKnit line. From classic T-shirts and joggers, to the new robe and boxers, there's a lot more to explore and get creative with. Shop the rest of the collection here for cloud-like comfort.
