Check out where to travel this spring, according to your zodiac sign.
Aries: Vipassana Meditation Retreat
Symbolized by the ram, Aries love to be number one—which is why they’re the first sign of the zodiac. Ruled by fire, they like to dive headfirst into everything and think later, which can lead to some sticky situations. Basically, they’d do best to slow down…way down. That's why Vipassana, a 10-day silent retreat that takes place in worldwide locations, is just the ticket. Calming the physical body extends to calming the inner fire in the Aries brain, and this serenity is super-beneficial.

“You may not want to, but the best and healthiest thing you can do for yourself is slow down, kick back, lay back, and let the burning fire within subside to a soothing, candle-lit glow," say Huang and Pavlova. "When you slow down enough to notice that everything is happening exactly as it should, you can continue to move forward at a sustainable pace that keeps the flame within fanned just enough to keep pushing you forward without burning you or (eventually) burning out.”
Taurus: Balos Lagoon, Greece
An earth sign represented by the bull, Taureans love soothing locales that pamper them substantially. They’re ruled by Venus, the planet of love, beauty, and money, so they do best in any environment that provides pure luxury.
“Balos Lagoon is a stunning seaside location that will satiate any Taurean’s desire for warm, soft, sandy beaches among a humble and friendly community in the heart of the Grecian waters,” say Huang and Pavolva. “Taurus can be stubborn and fearful of change, which is why being near water is essential to help them water their roots and feel more flexible. This stunning location is anything but predictable, which is exactly what a Taurus needs to shake up their routine and reconnect to their inner child.”
Gemini: A small mountain town
Represented by twins, Gemini is an air sign with countless things happening at once. To keep the Gemini from getting overwhelmed by to-do lists and expansive sights, scalable destinations, like Jackson County, Oregon, or Manarola, Italy, makes most sense for these innately curious folks.
“In a smaller locale, you can actually take the time to notice all the tiny nuances that make a place special, rather than getting lost in a giant metropolis, which could result in sensory and information overload," say Huang and Pavlova. “Taking the time to retreat and witness all the simplicities of a small town or village can be so beneficial to a Gemini. That way, when they come back to their busy, fun-filled lives, they can make sure to really savor everything and everyone around them, resisting the urge to always move on to the next sparkly thing.”
Cancer: A coastal bed-and-breakfast
Highly intuitive, Cancer is a cautious crab who might initially be perceived as cold or distant but really just takes time to open up. They often curl back up into their shell since the energies of other people really affect them.
“Since they are sensitive to their surroundings, Cancerians will benefit from traveling to a place that feels like a home away from home, like a bed-and-breakfast—preferably near a coastal city. A view of the ocean is a must!” say Huang and Pavlova. Some recommendations? The Kennebunkport Inn in Maine is the epitome of casual elegance, while the Simpson House Inn in Santa Barbara, California, is nestled within miles of gorgeous gardens.
“B&Bs hold a quaint charm and add a personal touch to your stay, so get ready to curl up with a good book and enjoy breakfast in bed,” Huang and Pavlova add. If that doesn't epitomize cozy, really, what does?
Leo: A leadership conference
Natural-born leaders, Leos rule the celestial jungle. These lions love to bask in the spotlight and celebrate all of their accomplishments, but they’re also ruled by the one planet that never goes retrograde: the sun. This means they’re known for their stability and loyalty, and can be really amazing, supportive friends…that is, until their ego gets bruised.
“A leadership conference would be great for a Leo because they feel their best in a place where they can perform and shine at their highest capacity. At the same time though, this can easily boost their ego past a manageable point,” say Huang and Pavlova. “Being surrounded by role models who will keep them less focused on the ego and more so on expanding past their interpersonal relationships. This is an interesting mix of both being in the spotlight and learning from others.”
Virgo: Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California
A perfectionist at heart, Virgo is a strong communicator, always on the hunt for new information to process. Historically represented by the goddess of grain and agriculture, a Virgo is very logical, practical, and systematic when it comes to, well, everything. To this point, getting in touch with nature is imperative for connecting the earth sign to its roots while giving instinct a chance to take over.
“Esalen is nestled in the cliffs where Big Sur meets the Pacific Ocean, with naturally forming hot sulfur springs and some of the best, healthiest, homegrown food California can offer,” say Huang and Pavlova. “A meditation or yoga retreat at this stunning institute for health and wellness would be the perfect healthy getaway for Virgos to help them in their further alignment with nature.”
Libra: Jamaica
Libras are represented by the scale, which means they’re always on the hunt for balance and harmony in life. This can also make them really indecisive, so the best vacation spot for them is one where they don’t have to choose between too much. Ruled by Venus, the planet of love, beauty, and money, Libras love the finer things in life, and can be pretty materialistic, too—they need to always be surrounded by beautiful objects that represent their high-flying tastes. So hello, Jamaica.
“While Libra is known as a diplomatic sign that can see both sides of any situation, this can lead to problems when a firm decision needs to be made—they constantly weigh the pros and cons before them," say Huang and Pavlova. "At an all-inclusive resort, however, you won’t have to worry about this. Don’t be afraid of making a bad choice—you literally can’t go wrong when you’re allowed to change your mind however you please.”
Scorpio: Costa Rica
Water sign Scorpios tend to keep to themselves, are highly intuitive and clairvoyant, and their mysterious nature is part of their charm. However, these crabs would do well to find a place to open up and be vulnerable
“A healthy place for a Scorpio is somewhere they can open up and won’t be afraid to vulnerable,” say Huang and Pavlova. “Costa Rica offers some of the world’s most untouched beauty through its landscapes, waters, and rainforests, and has brilliant nature and wildlife. Scorpios are naturally cave-dwelling creatures and deeply need that time to go inward and shed old layers. Then, they can emerge reborn, full of passion, and ready to experience the next great phase of their lives”
Sagittarius: New York Public Library
Represented by the archer, a Sagittarius is always on the hunt for knowledge, which is why this sign loves travel so much. They’re constantly aiming for an experience that’ll give them a new perspective on the world.
“When it comes to the next healthy destination you should visit, the challenge isn't choosing where to go, but rather, honing in on a specific place that will tickle your philosophical fancy the most," say Huang and Pavlova. "Sagittarius is a sign of higher learning, so what better place to soak up some knowledge than the New York Public Library? You’ll be able to spend hours poring over books and resources you may not be able to find anywhere else.”
Capricorn: A staycation
Capricorns are represented by the sea goat, a mythological creature with the body of a goat and the tail of a sea creature. Since this animal is half real and half imaginative, Capricorns are adept at navigating both the spiritual and material worlds. Their can-do attitude is admirable, but can often make them work way too hard. Given this reality, the best Capricorn vacation is something close to home.
“This earth sign can start to feel a little stressed when work is kept too far away—however, they also need to remember that taking breaks is just as important to their routine and mental health as doing the actual work is,” elaborate Huang and Pavlova. “For efficiency’s sake, why not try a good, old-fashioned staycation? It will grant you the social reprieve you desire without cutting into work time.”
Aquarius: A mission trip
Aquarius is known as the humanitarian of the zodiac. They are eccentric, quirky, and always trying to make the world a better place.
“Aquarius, you are at your best and most engaged when working in a collective that brings people together from all walks of life—and it’s even better if it’s for a good cause,” say Huang and Pavlova. “If there’s a country that’s been on your bucket list for a while, research if there are any charity or volunteering opportunities there that fit your time frame and budget. It could be equal parts challenging and fulfilling: the Aquarian sweet spot.”
Pisces: A floating lantern festival in Thailand
Symbolized by two fish swimming in opposite directions, Pisces often flits between fantasy and reality. Often swallowed by their emotions, Pisces are highly sensitive and can get overly emotional. For that reason, they’d do best in positive situations where they can feed off the positive emotions of others.
“Pisces should travel to places with experiences that will align them with their higher self,” say Huang and Pavlova, who suggest Thai lantern festivals, which take place throughout the year. “Regardless of which festival you attend, the sight of such a unifying, spiritual experience is sure to keep a Pisces swimming in only good vibes.”
