How to Wear Spring’s Biggest Athleisure Trend—the Sweatshirt Dress—Right Now
Oftentimes, fashion trends are easier to look at than actually execute IRL. Every once in a while, however—and with increasing frequency as athleisure continues its meteoric rise to popularity—one surfaces that's so accessible it leaves you wondering: "Where has this been all my life?"
Enter the sweatshirt dress, a star style for spring, which you can and should begin adopting now. This versatile, Hygge-perfect piece can easily be dressed up or down and offers that sexy, "I didn't try" vibe, along with the actual warmth and coziness you crave as temps continue to chill. "The sweatshirt dress is still feminine but with a huge comfort factor," says celebrity stylist Alyssa Sutter. "It's the ultimate win-win for any girl."

Activewear brands are on board with this runway-and-street-style favorite. Alala, for example, is launching a French terry version in spring, which founder Denise Lee suggests you plan to style with—wait for it—bike shorts. "We're launching the Harley bike short for spring, which is a take on a little Motorbike short," she says. "I think it's an unexpected layering piece under the sweatshirt dress. In a perfect world, I would wear them with a pair of those Balenciaga sock sneakers we're starting to see everywhere."
For now, celeb stylist Jasmine Caccamo insists you can't really mess up when it comes to styling your own for cold weather. "Wear it alone, style it with tights, throw it on with skinny jeans, wear it with sneakers or velvet booties," she suggests. The only mistake you can make, she says, is not adding one to your wardrobe.
