Ladies With D+ Cups, We’ve Got You Covered: These Swimsuits Are Chic *and* Supportive
Sabra Krock, co-owner and creative director of splashy swimwear retailer, Everything But Water, says classic bra-style tops with underwires and adjustable shoulder straps are typically the most supportive swimwear tops for bustier women. For extra support, cross-back, thick T-back, and X-back shapes are best.
Learn how to spot the telltale signs of a suit that's cute details can also give your girls the support they deserve.
Additionally, she says there are several key components to look for when shopping for a great-fitting swimsuit. “Look for bikini tops that are sized specifically with that cup in mind and noted as such in the description.” She explains that certain styles sizes 12+ or L/XL are often offered to women with larger busts but lack the technical construction details for a supportive and flattering fit.
If you’re opposed to underwires, Krock suggests a halter top with ties at the top and back or one with an under-bust band to provide support from underneath. For one-piece fans, she says “V-necks create beautiful lines and flatter larger cups—look for styles with good depth in the cups, thicker straps, supportive fabric, and/or an underwire.”
Krock’s biggest pieces of advice? “Ensure that the suit fits your particular shape—you should not have spillage on the sides or at the underarm or excessive cleavage in the middle if your suit has the depth, coverage and an overall fit that suits your body.” Do so, and you're sure to make a big splash.
