2 Simple (and Totally Free!) Ways the Points Guy Avoids Jet Lag
Kelly tells me his go-to technique to evade jet lag is one that can help everyone: plenty of water (but opt for the bottled stuff since in-flight taps have been found to be of questionable cleanliness).
"Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Dehydration exacerbates jet lag. So, even if you're tempted by the champagne or other alcohol on the plane, make sure you're drinking enough water to keep up with it." —Brian Kelly, founder and CEO of The Point's Guy
"Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Dehydration exacerbates jet lag," Kelly says. "So, even if you're tempted by the champagne or other alcohol on the plane, make sure you're drinking enough water to keep up with it."
And while Kelly fancies himself a pro at sleeping on planes, he notes snoozing at cruising altitude isn't always a great idea. Sure, sleep during your flight if it's an overnight one, but beware of time zone time warps that can contribute to jet lag once you land. "Don't sleep when you get to a destination unless its nighttime," he says. "If you change your sleeping habits before the flight and adjust yourself to the local time of where you're flying, that could also help in reducing jet lag."
