3 Recipes to Get You Out of a Smoothie-Making Rut
Sick of throwing kale and almond milk in a blender and calling it breakfast?
Sarah Adler, creator of SimplyRealHealth.com and author of the new The Simply Real Health Cookbook, has a fix for you with these three creative (but not complex) green smoothie recipes. You know, since it's finally warm enough to hold a chilled glass without your fingers getting numb.
"Instead of letting your smoothie routine get stale, give it a fresh twist every few months with seasonal ingredients," says Adler. "You'll feel energized and they're good for that oh-so-lovely healthy glow."

Honeydew Mint Green Smoothie
5 leaves romaine lettuce or 2 handfuls of spinach
1 handful chopped honeydew or cantaloupe (approximately 1/4–1/2 cup)
1/2 banana
5 leaves fresh mint
1/2 cup coconut water
1/4 cup water
1 cup ice
Add lettuce, melon, banana, mint, coconut water and water to the blender. Then add the ice and continue to blend until smooth. Enjoy!

Optional additions or substitutions: coconut milk or avocado instead of banana; basil instead of mint; or peaches instead of honeydew.
Tropical Green Smoothie
2 stalks kale or romaine, stems discarded
1/2 banana
1/4 cup frozen mango
1/4 cup frozen pineapple
1/2 cup coconut water
1/2 cup water
1 cup ice
Blend greens, banana, mango, pineapple, coconut water, and water. Then add the ice, and continue to blend until smooth. Enjoy!
Optional additions: cinnamon, coconut meat, fresh papaya, or lime.
Sarah’s Basic Kale Smoothie
3 stalks green kale, stems discarded
1/2 banana
1/2 avocado
1/3 cup frozen cherries or mangoes (approximately 6 pieces)
1 teaspoon chia seeds
1/4 cup coconut water
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup ice
Blend kale, banana, avocado, frozen fruit, chia seeds, coconut water, and water. Then add the ice and continue to blend until smooth. Enjoy!
