The Most Retro-Fab Brands for ’90s-Style Sweatshirts
It's 2017, but sometimes scrolling through Instagram, you'd think it was the '90s all over again. (Not that that's a bad thing.) Quite the opposite in fact when it comes to fitness fashion: Elastic logo waistbands, velour tracksuits, and iconic sneakers like the Air Max '97 have all returned to retail as of late. Another major trend from that decade that's making a comeback? Big-label sweatshirts, as in the kinds worn by supermodel Tyra Banks circa her Fresh Prince of Bel-Air days.
Probably the most-interesting part about their resurgence is that the best types of these boxy pullovers are being reissued by the same OG brands that made them popular in the first place: Champion, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Nike, Reebok, and Fila, among others.
Each one's logo is pretty much the same as it once was, but a few things have changed regarding their reboot: For starters, these sweatshirts have kept their oversized shape, but they're not as baggy as they were back in the day. Instead, several silhouettes are a bit more cropped at the waist for a figure-flattering look that goes just as well with leggings as it does with a skirt or jeans. And don't worry, they're still as super-cozy as their predecessors. Hey, hygge season's almost here, right?
