As the month that claims Halloween, October always feels a little spooky: With the weather colder and the days shorter and darker, your outdoor women’s circles have likely migrated indoors for spooky movie nights. And although a lot of this can be attributed to Halloween-prep or even post-summer gloom, you may want to check the lunar calendar for some extra intel. According to Refinery29, today at 2:41 p.m. EST, the full harvest moon rose—and it’s kind of a big deal.

The harvest moon occurring in October (rather than its typical September appearance) is rare, akin to a leap year, according to Space.com—the event is estimated to happen only 18 times in the 80 year period between 1970 and 2050. And, as is usually the case with any type of lunar change, you’re likely going to notice some shifts in your mood and behavior—so why not use it to your advantage?
Jennifer Racioppi, astrologer and career coach, says, “You can use this full moon to get into your body and clear blocks to your own embodiment. Take a lead from the moon, and activate your ability to gather your resources on behalf of what you most desire in your life.”
