One of the most pivotal astrological events of the year happens this week—and it’s a lucky one: Jupiter—the planet of abundance, growth, and harbinger of good luck—exits Sagittarius and enters into Capricorn on Monday, December 2. After spending the last year in his home sign of Sagittarius, the planet’s entrance into Capricorn heralds a period when hard work and rigor will provide the path to happiness. Jupiter will stay in Capricorn until December 19, 2020.
This station is especially great news for Capricorns and its Earth-sign-element cohorts, Virgo and Taurus. But regardless of your sun sign, Jupiter’s move in Capricorn stands to offer positive effects for all.

Beyond the transit of Jupiter happening this week, we’d be wise to consider its events later in the month. December ends with a south node solar eclipse in Capricorn on the 26th at 12:12 a.m., EST (so Christmas night, depending on your time zone). Then, Jupiter and the sun will form an applying conjunction. It’s worthy to note now because Jupiter is known as the Santa Claus of the cosmos, and given the planet’s close proximity to the sun at Christmas, many blessings and gifts can be expected this year.

This is great news for the end-of-year time, but let’s not to forget the far-reaching impact eclipses stand to offer: They can act like a broom and sweep away what’s no longer relevant while simultaneously opening a portal to new beginnings. Often abrupt and lacking a gentle transition, eclipses unclog the pipes of our lives, opening up new pathways for energy to flow. And given that they always travel in pairs, note that the subsequent lunar eclipse will take place shortly after the solar event, on January 10, 2020.
So, buckle your seat belts because we’re going to hit the ground running in 2020: Change is coming, and it’s coming quick. Now is not the time cling to rigidity because the universe is about to toss a curveball or two.
Jupiter in Capricorn exemplifies a work-hard, play-hard time
With Jupiter in Capricorn, the universe is rewarding a nose-to-the-grindstone work ethic, so take your responsibilities seriously. This is not a time to slack off; look at the details of your life. Where are you procrastinating, what are you avoiding, and what responsibilities are you ignoring? Listen to your feelings, emotions, and intuition, and stay touch with your needs.
Outside the Jupiter transit and the eclipse, the rest of the week remains relatively quiet from an astrological perspective. The waxing quarter moon in Pisces happens early in the morning on December 4. All combined, the cosmic forecast calls for attention to detail. This is a moment for radical maturity. Take responsibility for what’s unfolding in your life, and own your part. Step up your self-care game, so you feel ready and able to flow with the numerous pivots ahead. To that point, be sure to eat a blood-sugar-balanced diet, keep an eye on your alcohol intake, get as much rest as you can, and most certainly stick to your fitness routine. Breathe and trust that everything is unfolding exactly as it should.
