This Is the Face Oil That Aubrey Plaza Uses From Head to Toe
Onscreen, Aubrey Plaza stands out by injecting twisted wit into a happy-go-lucky Hollywood, thanks to biting roles in Legion, Ingrid Goes West, and Parks and Recreation. But when it comes to her IRL beauty look, she's as laid back as they come. At a recent event for beauty brand Peet Rivko (which counts Plaza as investor and brand ambassador), the actress not only opened her Los Angeles home to friends and press, but she did so while sporting little makeup, no shoes, and a relaxed spirit.
After a group meditation session in which only the trickle of an outside water fountain could be heard, I sat down with Plaza to talk about beauty made easy. Here, the actress’s essential beauty picks, including the face oil she applies from head to toe and her hack for making her hair look like a million bucks after using cheap-o hotel shampoo.

Peet Rivko Balancing Face Oil, $56
“I feel like I always want extra hydration and this oil is my favorite. I put it it all over my body, not just on my face; that’s why it’s my ride-or-die because I can put it everywhere and I love it,” she says. Brand founder Johanna Peet chimes in that if you're not looking for a full-body treatment, just press three drops onto your complexion post-moisturizer for a gleamy finish.
Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo, $44
“I love any kind of dry texturizing spray or dry shampoo because I try not to wash my hair that much. I can only go a couple of days without washing my hair, but with dry shampoo, I can go four or five days—it depends on what I’m doing,” she says. “A lot of times, I’m in my PJs driving to work at five in the morning and shooting all day and going home, so I don’t really need to look like a human—and I can look like an animal, which is my favorite. The dry shampoo takes the edge off.”
Dr. Perricone No Makeup Lipstick, $30
“One thing I have at all times is from Dr. Perricone—it’s a lipstick and tinted moisturizing balm that has everything in one,” she says. “It has a little color, but you don’t feel like you’re putting anything weird on your mouth—and it’s the right color for me, so I wear it all the time. It comes in a heavy tube like a legit lipstick, but it goes on lighter than a lipstick.”
Moroccanoil Heat Style Protectant, $53
“I need my Moroccanoil heat hair protector,” Plaza says bluntly, when asked about her famously sleek hair. “There’s always a lot of heat on my hair because of work. I kind of generally need to blow dry my hair because my hair isn’t beautiful when I let it air dry, like some people.”
Schwarzkopf Professional BC Bonacure Repair Rescue Nutri-Shield Serum, $13
“I take this with me everywhere and I put it on my hair when it’s damp,” she says. “It moisturizes the hell out of my hair and replenishes it because I’m in a lot of hotels and I end up using the [free] shampoo and conditioner. But if I have that super high-end moisture serum, then I get away with using that shampoo and conditioner. I just slide it all over and it’s like I used really fancy shampoo even though I didn’t.”
TenOverTen The Rose Oil, $26
"I love this brand so much. Their products are so gentle and clean," she tells me. "I don’t feel guilty wearing color for long stretches because I know it won’t damage my nails."
