William J. Kole is a veteran journalist and the author of the acclaimed new book THE BIG 100: The New World of Super-Aging (2023, Diversion Books.) A longtime AP foreign correspondent who reported from North America, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, Kole has been writing about aging since the 1990s, when he was based in France and told the world the extraordinary story of Jeanne Calment, who lived to 122. Kole is a recipient of 2022 fellowships in aging journalism at Columbia University in New York and the National Press Foundation in Washington, D.C. He lives in Rhode Island.
