Half the fun of workout gear is being able to experiment with colors and trends you may not dare to wear IRL. Neon and tie-dye at the office? For the vast majority, probably not. “I love combining a simple sports bra with a tank with strappy back details,” says Stephanie Dardenne, director of merchandising for the super-stylish activewear retailer, Carbon38. “The focus of this look is the layering tank.”
For those into the high-neck trend, Dardenne recommends pairing a bra in the silhouette with a tie-back tank. “This will leave a bare shoulder and accentuate the shape of your back.”
If a backless workout top isn’t your ideal but you love to layer, Dardenne has a formula for that, too. “One of my favorite combinations is an intricate sports bra under a mesh top,” explaining how a uniquely-designed sports bra is easily showcased underneath the transparent fabric.
