Here at Well+Good, we’re all about saving money where we can—and that includes on skin care. There are plenty of drugstore diamonds that we recommend time and time again, many of which are staples in our own routines (looking at you, CeraVe). But every once in a while, a product comes around that’s worth the splurge, which is exactly how we feel about Augustinus Bader Body Cream.
The brand’s luxe line of products has long been renowned for its skin-transforming technology, and last year, Professor Bader (the brand’s founder) brought his science-backed formula into body care. The body cream has all that you’d expect from a head-to-toe hydrator, leaving skin smooth and soft both immediately and in the longterm, but it goes above and beyond with its cell-renewing properties.
Like Augustinus Bader’s legendary face products, the formula stimulates your body to create new cells by giving it the building blocks of vitamins, amino acids, and nutrients, which allows your skin to effectively heal itself. According to the brand, the formula “acts like a GPS, guiding key nutrients to the skin cells and generating ideal conditions for renewal.” The result is the diminishment of acne, fine lines and wrinkles, redness, and general textural issues, as well as an increase in elasticity.

Being the skin science nerds that we are, our beauty team couldn’t wait to test this stuff out for ourselves—and immediately discovered that it lives up to the hype. It’s thick without being goopy, which makes the application experience feel luxurious and hassle-free. It smooths skin in a way that makes it appear practically airbrushed, and has been clinically proven to reduce the appearance of stretch marks and cellulite over 12 weeks. According to Well+Good’s Beauty and Fitness Director, Ali Finney, “it feels like a body treatment product,” instead of just helping with upkeep, which is the case for most other moisturizers on the market. Plus, she adds, a little bit of the stuff goes a long way for dry skin, which means that your $165 tub will last you through the winter and beyond. And if you’re not a fan of heavy creams? The brand also has a lighter lotion that offers the same benefits.
So if you’re going to treat yourself to one bougie body product this winter, we can’t recommend this one highly enough.
