With most skin-care products, you have to wait 28 days—aka a full skin cycle, or the amount of time it takes for your skin to regenerate—to know if it’s actually working. That’s why it’s all the more satisfying when you slather something on and know immediately that it’s doing its job. Such is the case with Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment Mask ($25), a detoxifying mask that’s so instantly effective, you can actually watch as it sucks the dirt and oil out of your pores.

As TikTok user Jessica Lynn Vanderk showed off in a recent viral video, when the mask starts to dry from a goopy mud into a solid clay, you’re able to very clearly see the oil that it’s removed from your skin. After only a few minutes, the product layer will be smattered with black dots that serve as a visual representation of everything it’s sucking out of your pores.
The reason the mask works so well—and the reason it’s become an Instagram Explore page staple—is thanks to its triple-threat, acne-fighting formula. Its hero ingredient is, of course, clay. In general, clay is known for its ability to draw out dirt and oil, and it tightens and refines pores to leave skin clear and grime-free. The Glamglow formula pairs it with Activated-X charcoal, which purportedly pulls out 500 times its weight in these types of materials.
In addition to its mineral actives, the mask also has a blend of five alpha-hydroxy acids (lactic, glycolic, mandelic, pyruvic and tartaric acid) which act as gentle exfoliants to melt away the dead skin cells that tend to trap acne-causing bacteria. Plus, it’s got salicylic acid, a beta-hydroxy acid that’s small enough to get way down deep into your pores, clearing them from the inside out and helping to prevent the accumulation of dead skin cells, debris, and oil. This means that in addition to its ability to instantly de-gunk your face, it will keep it clear and smooth for the long haul.
Having personally tried the Glamglow Supermud mask, I can confirm that it definitely lives up to the hype—it’s basically a vacuum for your pores, and is just as cool to watch IRL as it is on TikTok. As someone with dry skin, I’ve found that the mask has a tendency to leave my complexion dehydrated, but this can be avoided by either not letting the mask dry all the way or only applying it to extra-oily areas like my T-zone and avoiding the others.
Watch it in action below, and prepare to be equally grossed out and intrigued all at the same time.
