What I like about Go Smile is that their products are effective without causing pain or discomfort (the treatments are clinically proven to lighten teeth safely). I’ve tried pretty much all of the over-the-counter teeth whitening gadgets and goos (avid coffee and tea drinker, here), and so I’ve dealt with my fair share of irritated gums. Every Go Smile item I’ve tried is gentle (never any stinging or inflammation), but always delivers on the promise of a whiter smile.
Go Smile’s main ingredients include alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, hydrated silica, and flavoring. While all of these are considered safe to use orally (in small, prescribed amounts), periodontist Dr. Yvette Carrillo does warn Well+Good that alcohol is acidic and too much exposure “can desiccate teeth, leading to sensitivity.” These ingredients are generally safe enough to get the green light from most dental experts (although if you’re unsure, you should always consult with your dentist or healthcare provider).
Dr. Joesph Field, DDS, tells us, “The whitening products for sale at Nordstrom are really solid options. You can’t beat the pricing and the results are good.” Like any whitening agents, he warns to not overuse them, as this can lead to sensitivity.
“For the most significant improvements the in office options work better but these over the counter products are great to use in between in office sessions to maintain the white color,” he adds.
