Imagine all of the beauty perks you’d get if you worked at Sephora. Dreamy, right? Holly Siegel lives that life.

“I charmed my way into an internship at Women’s Wear Daily in 2001 after telling a white lie to bond with my interviewer, and never looked back,” says Siegel of how she got into the beauty industry. Hey, it worked—now she’s editorial director of the ubiquitous skin-care and makeup mecca.

Not only does Siegel have access to essentially all the lipsticks and nail lacquers a grown woman could want (which, in my experience, is a lot), but she also gets seriously cool intel about the products that everyone else is going to be obsessing over once they hit shelves.

So just what is getting the insiders at Sephora—who see, apply, and test just about everything on the beauty market—excited?  “Right now, we’re all nerding out over the Dyson hairdryer—it’s so fast—and sheet masks for your hands and feet from Sephora Collection,” she says. I use this product, which is made from a mix of Bulgarian rose, sugar, and virgin coconut oil, about once a week. Not only does it class up the way my shower looks, but it also smells amazing and gently exfoliates my upper arms, which tend to get a little bumpy when I’m working out a lot.

2. RMS Beauty Living Luminizer, $38

I love shimmer and glitter—always have—but they can be a little much at the office. Yes, even when you work at Sephora! Plus, I’m in my mid-thirties, and some shimmer is really unforgiving when it comes to fine lines. This product is a great way to bring brightness to the face but melts into skin like butter, and it’s impossible to overdo it.

3. Tata Harper Purifying Cleanser, $62

I don’t think people put enough thought into what they’re washing their faces with, because they think it just goes down the drain. But it’s actually so important to use a cleanser that is gentle yet effective. This one is a really innovative, soap-free mousse packed with ingredients like ginger, fennel, and broccoli extracts. 4. Drunk Elephant B Hydra Intensive Hydration Gel, $52

I’m always looking for an easy moisturizer that feels light, even though I probably actually need more than light amounts of hydration. This guy checked all the boxes for me. I also love that it has a pump top, because I get ready pretty quickly in the morning—only one hand necessary!

5. Captain Blankenship Mermaid Hair Oil, $34

Of course, I’m a sucker for the name and the packaging on this one, but I also really like the formula. I wear my hair natural most of the time, and am always caught between needing to weigh it down a little but not wanting it to get really gunky—I also try not to wash it too much. So the awesome woodsy scent refreshes my hair while the actual oil gives it the polish I’m looking for.
