This $20 Mascara Has Not Once Clumped in the 4 Years That I’ve Used It

When it comes to makeup, mascara can be a total game changer. A good one can really open your eyes and enhance your natural features. And a bad one can leave you with clumps and little remnants of fall-out throughout the day. But thankfully, I’ve never had that problem with the M.A.C Extended Play Mascara Gigablack Lash ($20).

It’s a mascara that I’ve used for over four years and it’s the only one that I swear by for getting my lashes to fan out. I have naturally curly lashes that stick together easily, and most mascaras that I’ve tried add volume but aren’t able to properly define my fringe; however, this mascara checks all the boxes.

Long-lasting and waterproof, this mascara can help make you lashes pop drama with minimal coats.

Part of the reason for that is the smaller wand and shorter bristles, which is able to get in between the lashes and comb them out from the top to bottom. For those with thick lashes like myself, it’s a real treat. It easily goes on and stays on. In fact, it holds tight for up to 16 hours and has a waterproof formula. But not to worry, I find that it easily washes off with a makeup wipe or cleansing balm with little to no problem.

In terms of application, I like that you don’t need a lot of coats to make your lashes look really polished. If you want drama, you only need about two; with a single coat, it looks like you’re ready to seize the day with a nice stain-like effect. But no matter how many layers you apply, I find that it doesn’t leave a mess behind (aka it’s buildable, but never clumpy). Whether you’re a minimalist when it comes to makeup or you like to put on the glam, this is a mascara that is that is versatile enough to give you the best of both worlds.
