When Moon Juice first launched, founder Amanda Chantal Bacon had one mission in mind: healing and enhancing people’s bodies from the inside out. To help satisfy her goal, she enlisted the help of adaptogenic nut milks and juices, pantry must-haves, cult-favorite “dusts,” and—most recently—a stress-busting supplement. Come June 19 though, the brand’s focus is expanding to your external appearance with a new beauty collection that’s chock-full of adaptogens.
The wellness brand‘s first-ever skin-care line, called Beauty Shroom, includes three products: a topical (and adaptogenic!) Plumping Jelly Serum that lifts, smoothes, and (duh) plumps, using nourishing and hydrating silver ear mushroom and reishi; an ingestible Vegan Collagen full of silver ear mushrooms; and the Exfoliating Acid Potion—which is said to be a cleaner version of the cult-favorited Lotion P50—which fights inflammation and ups your hydration with five different acids, reishi, vitamin B3, and tocotrienols.
In true Moon Juice fashion, every product in the beauty collection uses super herbs to perfect your complexion, but mushrooms are the clear stars of this show. “They’ve been used for thousands of years for everything from energy and focus to immunity and beauty,” Bacon tells me. “Their potential is limitless, both used as supplements or topically on the skin.” That’s precisely why Bacon uses silver ear mushrooms (also called tremella) in the Plumping Jelly and the Vegan Collagen. Tremella is a super-moisturizing ingredient that she says holds 500 times its weight in water, so it’s an all-star at promoting skin hydration. After using it both topically as an ingestible, Bacon says she’s noticed her complexion looks clearer: “My fine lines are less visible and my skin is smoother and more hydrated.”

Bacon might have a well-researched and tested daily skin-care routine now, but that wasn’t always the case. Her former beauty ritual was minimalist and just involved brushing her teeth, washing her face with a bar of soap, and if her skin got dry, moisturizing as needed. Upon reaching her mid-thirties though, she saw a change in her complexion that led her to search for products she completely trusted for her skin—but she had trouble finding clean items that really did the trick.
“When I went out to find products that were efficacious, I couldn’t find anything clean that actually worked,” Bacon says. “There were products that smelled great or felt beautiful, but I was intrigued and also horrified that I couldn’t find anything that was clean that could also make a difference in my skin.”
Needless to say, those worries have now dissipated like Moon Dust in the wind, and Bacon adds she’s committed to finding clean, clinical, and effective solutions for issues common to all women. “I’ll always start with the benefit I want to see, and then I find a super-powered plant that addresses the need,” Bacon says.
For right now, mushrooms seem to be the gift that keeps on giving.
