While some products in my skin-care regimen never change—like the Biologique Recherche P50 toner ($67) and Neutrogena Hydroboost Hydrating Serum ($23)—I typically keep the rest in rotation in order to explore the wide world of beauty products. If a facial cleanser runs out, I’ll try another brand. Same with everything else, from my body lotion to my face cream. Sure, I use a facial moisturizer twice a day, but I’m forever testing out a new product. But now that my skin’s been introduced to the brand-spankin’ new Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream ($68), I’m never switching face creams again.

As the newest concoction from the J-beauty brand Tatcha—a brand already beloved by many—the moisturizer takes the star ingredients from its famous Dewy Skin Mist ($48) and inserts them into a cream that’s all about bestowing your face with legit dewy skin. It’s got Japanese purple rice, soothing botanical extracts, a Japanese algae blend, and hyaluronic acid, each working to gently plump and hydrate your skin. Fun fact: Purple rice used to be forbidden in ancient Japanese culture because it was reserved for the rich and noble. It’s a key skin booster because it contains a potent antioxidant that protects your complexion from pollution.

“The active ingredients in the cream help replenish ceramides, protect the skin from stress, replenish the moisture reservoir, and help to retain hydration,” says Tatcha founder Victoria Tsai. “The formula took about a year and a half to develop—we go through a couple dozen formulations to get the right balance of efficacy, texture, and feeling on the skin—and for this particular formula, the trick was ensuring that it feeds the skin with the actives without ever feeling heavy, tacky, or oily.” Well, nailed it.

Ever since I started using it about a month ago, my face has been extremely hydrated and, well, truly dewy. Unlike many moisturizers that I’ve tried in my life, this one actually keeps my skin hydrated throughout the day, and I even wake up not looking parched. While the consistency is pretty thick, it absorbs right away. Bonus points for only needing a tiny amount in order to slather all over for plenty of moisture. It’s been particularly great for my winter complexion which looks like one of those dried-out White Walkers from Game of Thrones. (If you know, you know.) The elements don’t stand a chance with this moisturizer on.

What’s more exciting? The Dewy Skin Cream actually looks like it belongs in a palace for royalty—it’s in a pretty purple jar with a small golden spoon for scooping out the perfect amount for your skin. Even the cream is a lavender that screams, “Instagram me!” It’s not surprising that Kim Kardashian’s makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic, is a fan. Sorry, world of moisturizers out there—I’ve found my skin’s BFF hydrator.

Other ways to keep your skin moisturized include adding a hyaluronic acid serum to your regimen, along with a weekly moisturizing face mask.
