Here’s what the numbers said

In the survey, nearly 80 percent of respondents (over 2,000 people) said they believe non-age-related hair loss among women is common or very common, and it shows by how they classify their hair.

More than half of respondents described their hair as average, thin, and really thin, while only a third would describe their tresses as thick or super thick, with several of those who fell in the thick-haired camp noting that their hair used to be even thicker.

And that scenario where you feel like you’re constantly cleaning hair out of your shower drain? Lots of W+G readers are in the same boat, with 75 percent of respondents saying they notice lost hair most in the shower.

However, the cause of said hair loss is up for debate. Over 50 percent of respondents attributed their non-stop shedding to stress, while other popular causes were hormonal imbalance, diet changes, genetics, and pregnancy, in that order.

Here’s what W+G readers are doing about it
